Southwark Park Playground, London
Southwark Park Playground in Southwark Park, London, is quickly becoming one of our favourite spots for a day out with the kids! As a local parent, it’s a fantastic place to visit when you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly, and free activity. If you’re after a playground that offers something for both toddlers and older children, this one really ticks the boxes.
The playground itself is brilliant – with a big slide, swings, and an exciting climbing net that keeps the little ones entertained for hours. My kids absolutely love the bright soft floor and the newer, more adventurous climbing frames. The long slide, which has been around for a while, is still a massive hit too!
For the hot summer days, the water fountains are perfect, and the kids can splash about to cool down. There’s also plenty of space for them to run around and burn off some energy, with a large grassy area where you’ll often see families playing football or having a picnic.
One of the things that makes Southwark Park such a gem is the beautiful lake, complete with ducks. We always stop by the cafe to grab some duck feed and let the kids have a go at feeding the ducks – it’s such a simple activity but they absolutely love it.
The park is huge, and there’s a sports centre for older kids or even parents wanting to keep active, and loads of wildlife to spot as you walk around. It’s a peaceful oasis in the middle of London, making it the perfect place for a smart family outing without spending a penny.
We really love Southwark Park as a family. Whether it’s the playground, the lake, or just relaxing in the green space, it’s a spot we’ll return to again and again. If you’re on the hunt for a free, family-friendly activity in London, this is a must-visit!
