Shoreditch Park Playground in Islington has quickly become one of our family’s favourites! We visited recently, and I was amazed by how much thought has gone into making this playground both fun and accessible for everyone.
The playground has 12 swings in total, including toddler swings and a mega circular swing that the kids absolutely love. What’s really thoughtful is the inclusion of a swing with a big chair, perfect for children or adults with reduced mobility. My little one spent ages on the swings, while her older brother couldn’t get enough of the climbing frames and high swings.
There’s also a lovely small sandpit area that’s great for toddlers, and plenty of climbing structures to keep the older kids busy. I really appreciated the variety – from the slides and seesaw to a giant xylophone where the kids can make their own music! It’s clear that no space is wasted, and every corner has something for kids to explore.
Another thing that stood out to me was how beautifully the rewilding areas are integrated around the playground. It adds such a calming, green vibe to the space, making it a pleasant environment for both kids and adults. There are also plenty of benches, so parents and carers can relax while keeping an eye on the kids.
One of the best things about Shoreditch Park Playground is its wheelchair accessibility. It’s completely designed for everyone, which is fantastic, as all kids deserve to play without barriers.
For a free family day out in London, this playground is a real hidden gem. Whether you’ve got toddlers or older children, there’s so much to keep them entertained. Shoreditch Park Playground is definitely a must-visit for anyone in the Islington area or beyond!
