Science Museum in Kensington, London
We recently took the kids to the London Science Museum, and let me tell you, it was an absolute delight for the whole family! It’s not just educational, but incredibly fun too—perfect for kids and grown-ups alike. You could easily spend the entire day there, wandering through the exhibits, learning how things have evolved from the past to present. The interactive areas were a huge hit with our little ones, and we barely scratched the surface, covering just the ground floor in around three hours.
We were especially impressed by the Power Up exhibition, where we had a go at all the old gaming consoles. It was pretty busy, but there were enough consoles to keep the kids entertained. Plus, the museum was spotless, with hand sanitisers everywhere, which is always a plus when you’re out with children.
The space exhibits were brilliant, and we also loved the section on engineering inventions—both so well-preserved and interactive. There’s a great sensory play area for young kids, so even the toddlers had plenty to do! We also found the garden on -1 floor, which is ideal for toddlers, with water tables, sound, and light activities.
We’ve been to the Science Museum a couple of times now, and it never disappoints. There are loads of hands-on things for the kids to explore, and the information about different aspects of science is spot on. The plane gallery on the top floor was a standout for us this time—what an incredible display!
I’d definitely recommend booking your free tickets in advance (we did it online, and it was seamless), and there’s the option to make a donation or pay for special exhibits like the Wonderlab, which was brilliant. Overall, it’s the perfect day out for families in London. Whether your kids are into space, history, or technology, they’ll love it, and you’ll love watching them learn while having fun.
