Leicester Square Sculptures: Harry Potter, Paddington & more
If you’re looking for a free, family-friendly outing in the heart of London, the Leicester Square Sculpture Trail is a hidden gem you simply can’t miss. We recently took the kids to the trail and had an absolute blast exploring the iconic children’s movies and literature characters from children’s brought to life through stunning outdoor sculptures. The trail is part of the “Scenes in the Square” exhibition, and it’s running until 30th September 2025, so there’s plenty of time to check it out.
As a parent, I loved the variety of sculptures, which feature beloved characters from both my childhood and my children’s favourites. From Harry Potter to Superheroes like Batman and Wonder Woman, and family classics like Paddington Bear, Mary Poppins, and Mr Bean, there’s a character that will bring a smile to everyone’s face. The detail in these sculptures is really impressive—they’ve been designed to look just like scenes from the films! My little one was in awe of Batman, standing tall and watching over the square.
That said, it can get a bit tricky to spot all the statues, especially when Leicester Square is busy. We couldn’t find Paddington Bear as the area was packed, and the sculptures are cleverly placed in such a way that some are tucked among the crowds. It’s definitely worth allowing some extra time for a more leisurely hunt, especially if you want to catch them all.
Overall, it’s a brilliant day out, perfect for families. And since it’s in Leicester Square, you can combine it with a nice walk around the area or grab a bite to eat at one of the nearby restaurants. I’d definitely recommend going early or mid-week if possible to avoid the crowds. But regardless, the Leicester Square Sculpture Trail is one of the best free activities for kids in London, and it’s a must-visit if you’re looking for something fun and educational to do with the family.
