Overview
If you’re looking for one of the best free family-friendly parks in London, then Clissold Park Playground in Stoke Newington is a must-visit! We recently took our daughter there, and it was a fantastic day out for all of us. The playground is incredibly spacious, with soft flooring throughout, making it super safe for toddlers and young kids. My daughter loved running around, and there was plenty of room for her to play, even with lots of other kids around. It’s a really clean, well-maintained park, and you can tell it’s designed with families in mind.
One of the highlights for us was the splash park, which is perfect for little ones on a hot day! It’s free to use during the summer holidays, but you do need to book online. The kids had so much fun splashing about, so definitely remember to bring a change of clothes if you're visiting on a sunny day. There’s also a lovely sand area, which is always a hit with toddlers, and plenty of benches and seating for parents to sit and watch the kids having fun.
For older children, there are climbing frames, tennis courts, and open spaces for them to run wild. The playground has a great mix of activities that cater to different ages, so whether your kids like climbing, swinging, or just exploring, there’s something for them here.
Another standout feature of Clissold Park is the small zoo, which was a real treat for our little one. We got to see deer, various birds, and even a butterfly enclosure. The baby ducks in the pond were a sweet surprise, and it was a nice touch to spend some time watching them. There’s also an aviary, which adds a bit of educational fun to the day.
After all that running around, we grabbed a snack at the café and enjoyed a stroll through the spacious grounds. It’s a perfect spot to unwind while the kids burn off some energy. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, and it’s such a peaceful place despite being in London.
We had an amazing time and will definitely be back to explore more. Clissold Park is a real hidden gem for family activities in London, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for smart ways to enjoy London on a budget with kids. It’s one of those places where you can spend the whole day without spending much, and the kids will be entertained for hours!
