Children’s Art Trail Of Fun Sculptures, Canary Wharf, London
If you’re looking for a fun, free, and creative family activity in London, the Canary Wharf Children’s Art Trail is an absolute gem! We took our little ones for a wander around Canary Wharf recently, and I must say, this trail is a brilliant way to spend the day. It’s packed with sculptures that are designed to engage children, and it’s a wonderful chance to get kids excited about art.
The trail features 12 unique pieces of art that are sure to capture the imaginations of young (and older!) budding artists. Starting at Cabot Square, the first piece that really got our kids excited was the Draped Seated Woman—a large sculpture that sparked plenty of questions and curiosity. It’s such a striking way to kick off the trail.
As we moved on, one of our family favourites was the Shine Your Colours glass sculpture. It’s absolutely mesmerising, especially on a sunny day when the colours reflect and create a kaleidoscope effect. The kids couldn’t stop gazing at it!
Another standout was the Lightbenches—these colour-changing benches are such a hit with little ones. They glow in different hues, and you can’t help but take a break on them to watch the lights shift. It made for a great pit stop to rest our legs before continuing the trail.
The Minigolf installation is a must-try if your kids enjoy a bit of friendly competition. It’s a colourful and fun way to interact with art, and the fact that you can actually play mini-golf is such a brilliant touch.
We also loved the Captivated by Colour tunnel—walking through it felt like stepping into a rainbow. The bright geometric shapes really added a pop of excitement, and the kids were captivated as they dashed through it.
At the end of the trail, we arrived at Harbour Quay Gardens. This lovely green space was the perfect spot to let the kids run about while we enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. The quirky Minotaur and Hare on a Bench sculpture here added a playful twist to the end of the trail.
The best part? This whole experience is completely free, making it one of the best family activities in London if you’re looking for a budget-friendly day out. Whether your children are budding artists or just need a fun day out, this art trail is a hidden gem in the heart of Canary Wharf. It’s like a fun treasure hunt experience!
So, if you’re planning your next outing and want to keep costs low while making sure the kids are entertained, I highly recommend the Canary Wharf Children’s Art Trail. It’s a smart way to introduce your children to art, all while enjoying some fresh air in one of London’s more modern settings.
