Barbican Children’s Library, London
We recently took the kids to the Barbican Children’s Library, and what a lovely little find it is! They’ve got a brilliant lineup of activities throughout the week that are all completely free – perfect for keeping the little ones entertained. We’ve tried the Bookstart Rhyme Time on a Friday morning with my youngest, and he absolutely loved it! Lots of singing, nursery rhymes, and then some time to play with the toys afterwards.
My eldest, who’s 4, had a blast at Bookstart Story Time. The librarian picked a bunch of fun, quirky stories – a mix of fairy tales and modern classics – and it was a proper hit with the little ones.
They also run a Toy Time session on Wednesdays where they’ve got a load of toys set out for the kids to explore for a couple of hours. It’s all set in a really chilled atmosphere, which is ideal.
For those with older kids, there’s a Games Club on Thursday evenings. They’ve got all sorts – from chess and Scrabble to Guess Who? and Snakes & Ladders. We haven’t tried this one yet, but it sounds fab! And if your little ones are into arts and crafts, the Monster Art Clubs are a brilliant way to let them get creative, with all the materials provided.
The best part is, everything is free, making it one of the best family-friendly spots in London. Highly recommend it to any parent looking for something fun and educational to do with their kids!
