On a recent sunny afternoon, we decided to head over to Marylebone Green Playground in Regent's Park, London, and I must say, it quickly became one of our favourite spots for a family day out. The kids were absolutely buzzing from the moment we stepped into the playground! With its three themed zones, there’s something here for kids of all ages – a real gem when you’re looking for free family activities in London. We started in the Traditional Zone, where my little ones had a blast on the swings and seesaw, and the climbing frame kept them entertained for ages. It’s perfect for younger children, giving them a safe and fun space to play. There’s a spiralling concrete folly with a slide that’s both quirky and fun, and a rock-climbing wall that my older one couldn’t get enough of! Finally, the Natural Zone was the kids’ favourite. They loved scrambling over fallen trees, clambering on the rocks, and weaving their way through the living willow tunnel. It felt like we’d been transported to a magical woodland adventure! What’s also fantastic about this hidden gem for family activities in London is that it’s thoughtfully designed for the whole family. There are high and low swings for kids of different ages, and the balance course and logs kept my two occupied for quite some time. There’s a lovely shaded area under the trees – great for a breather while keeping an eye on the kids. Plus, there’s a gazebo for a bit of shelter if the weather turns, as well as clean public toilets and drinking fountains nearby, which is always a win when you’ve got young kids in tow! Overall, it’s a beautifully maintained playground with plenty to do, and it’s completely free to visit.
